People across the district are being urged to have their say on Bradford Council’s service-slashing budget, which the leader of Bradford Council says will “affect everyone”.
Councillor David Green wants residents, businesses, voluntary and community groups, staff and trade unions to give their views on the authority’s draft budget proposals, which aim to save £89 million over the next two years.
About 100 people have called the Council with their suggestions about how its money should be spent.
Coun Green said: “Everyone will be affected and we need you to look at the initial budget proposals and give us your views. The budget is not finally set until February so we need your opinions to feed back into that process.
“People have to realise we have significantly reduced resources but at the same time the district has a growing population with rapidly increasing numbers of younger and older people and continues to experience high levels of unemployment and poverty, all of which place pressures on Council services.
“The Council will no longer be able to afford all the services that people are used to and tough decisions will have to be made about what to reduce in frequency and quality, what to charge for and what to stop doing altogether.”
