Drunken brothers who threw tins at supermarket staff after one of them was stopped for stealing booze have been given suspended prison sentences.

Bradford Crown Court yesterday heard Jordan Brame, 18, of Bronshill Grove, Allerton, Bradford, and Dean Whittaker, 25, of Mornington Villas, Manningham, Bradford, had both pleaded guilty to affray and theft.

Prosecutor David McGonigal said the defendants and a third man had walked into the Asda store in Cemetery Road, Bradford, at about 11.30pm on January 18 this year.

Whittaker picked up a bottle of vodka and the third man got a case of beer while Brame was talking to the store doorman.

The three then walked out together making no attempt to pay and were followed by a store detective who detained Whittaker, who put up a violent struggle.

Trollies were pushed at staff with Brame caught on CCTV throwing one of the trolleys towards an employee. The three men then threw a display of tinned food making staff run back into the main shop.

The pair were sentenced to five months in jail suspended for 18 months, ordered to each carry out 160 hours of unpaid work and be subject to a four-month curfew.
