Police investigating a series of fraud offences have released a picture of a woman they would like to question.
They say a woman entered four Skipton town centre shops on October 7 and 9 and paid for low value items using a £20 note.
But, after getting her change, she asked for it in other denominations and then confused the assistant by stating the wrong amount had been given.
“The suspect targets young members of staff and once they have become confused she begins pointing at bank notes in the till,” said a police spokesman.
“She obtained £30 in one shop, £10 from two more shops and was refused change in the fourth.”
The suspect is described as white, slim, with ginger and brown hair, tied into a ponytail, and was wearing a red coloured Adidas zip-up top and pale blue skinny jeans.
“All shop workers are advised to be vigilant when asked for varying amounts change in this manner and report any suspect activity to the police,” said a police spokesman.
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Tony Ingram on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111, quoting reference 12130175502.
