A suitable site for an exchange box which will allow high-speed broadband to be brought to Cononley is being assessed.
The move comes after a meeting between residents, businesses, local councillors, county councillor Patrick Mulligan, high speed broadband project managers NYNET and BT.
Villagers had previously been told that the village would not be benefiting from the fibre optic high speed broadband roll-out across North Yorkshire and the only option would be the wi-fi solution.
BT told the meeting that the problem was the lack of a suitable site for a second exchange box which would be required for the service.
As a result, a meeting has been arranged between the parish council and clerk and BT to assess a potential site suggested at the meeting.
