Medals, bookmarks and certificates were handed out to hundreds of young bookworms to celebrate their success in this year’s Summer Reading Challenge.
Primary-age children were challenged to read six books of their choice during the summer holidays, while libraries held more than 160 free tie-in events.
Bradford Council last night hosted a celebration for children who completed the challenge in St George’s Hall.
The Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Khadim Hussain, opened the event, and performance poet and author Nick Toczek and children’s author and illustrator Chris Mould also performed.
The theme of this year’s Summer Reading Challenge was ‘Creepy House’.
