A pedestrian suffered a serious head injury when she was in collision with a vehicle in Brighouse last night.
The woman, believed to be in her 50s, was taken by an ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary. The collision happened on Briggate, between its junctions with Bridge Road and Ship Street, near the Black Swan Hotel, at 6.50pm.
Briggate was closed in both directions while emergency services dealt with the incident. An ambulance service spokesman said: “A female in her 50s was taken by ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary with quite a serious head injury.”
A police spokesman said the woman had suffered a fractured skull, but that her injuries were not thought to be life-threatening. He added that Briggate was expected to re-open to traffic by about 9.30pm.
