A volunteer on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway has died at his home, aged 75.
Michael Goodall’s involvement with the line stretched back 47 years. He had been suffering from cancer.
K&WVR chairman, Dr Matt Stroh, said: “Mike was our railway safety officer for many years.
“His job with British Rail meant we never had a safety briefing without him being able to give us an anecdote about a situation he’d previously experienced.”
Last weekend, one of the railway’s locomotives displayed a wreath in memory of Mr Goodall.
K&WVR vice-president Bill Black said: “He was a very pleasant chap with a dry wit, and he always had a story to back up his statements.”
Mr Goodall lived in Pudsey, and since his death on September 29 coroners have appealed for relatives to come forward. Call Rod Holmes on (01422) 337119.
