Details have been confirmed about which parts of Otley and Yeadon will have their streetlights partially switched off at night.
Leeds City Council’s city-wide cost-cutting scheme, which sees lights in certain ‘non-risk’ areas turned off between midnight and 5.30am, was introduced to sections of Adel and Wharfedale this week. Now the authority has announced which parts of the Otley and Yeadon ward will be affected when the switch-off begins there on Monday, November 4.
The change will affect main traffic routes including:
* Otley bypass and part of Bradford Road
* a section of the A660 Leeds Road between Old Pool Bank and Otley
* a stretch of the A658 Harrogate Road between Leeds-Bradford Airport and the Dyneley Arms crossroads.
The Aireborough and Wharfedale Neighbourhood Policing Team believes the change will not have any effect on community safety.
The council hopes the overall scheme will save £1.3 million over the next ten years.
