Bradford’s award-winning City Park has been turned pink this week to raise awareness of breast cancer.
It was the idea of local group, Soroptimists International of Bradford, as part of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Geraldine Tolan, of the group, said they approached Bradford Council and asked if the authority could light up City Park and the clock tower on City Hall, which it agreed to do.
“Bradford Council has been so helpful,” said Mrs Tolan. “The clock tower looks absolutely fantastic. We are really thrilled with it all.”
City Park and the clock tower were lit up pink yesterday and Monday and, after a break today, will be pink again tomorrow and Friday.
The Soroptimists are also hosting a chocolate tombola in Bradford’s Kirkgate Centre tomorrow between 10am and 2pm.
