The impact of extreme weather, including drought and flood, on the future of the construction industry will be discussed at a conference in Bradford this week.
Climate Change, Water Management and the Construction Industry is the annual conference for the Construction Industry Council Yorkshire and Humber (CIC) and will be held at the Yorkshire Water Conference Centre in Esholt on Thursday.
Chairman of the regional CIC, Stefanie Stead said: “The aim of the conference is to have a greater understanding of how and why drought and flood affects communities and businesses and explore ways in which the construction industry can help mitigate the risks.
“Architects and other professionals will be challenged to adopt practical solutions for weather disasters such as flooding and drought, and ensure climate change and water management issues become key priorities when building new communities.”
Speakers include president of the Landscape Institute Sue Illman and land use planning manager at Yorkshire Water Stephanie Walden.
