An art group’s work with older people at a Keighley community centre has inspired the setting up of a new group. The Friends of Hainworth will help provide activities and support for pensioners in the Woodhouse and Spring Bank area. Services will include weekly visits to elderly residents in their homes and a daily phone call for those who are ill or vulnerable.
There will be a task force to help out in extreme weather conditions, and volunteers to help residents with mobility problems reach the centre. The group was formed after the Imaginarium team ran a film-making project with people who use the Hainworth Wood Centre. Imaginarium uses techniques such as music, theatre and film to help communities identify their needs and come up with solutions.
