The second Bradford Science Festival concludes today with a family fun day at Centenary Square and Bradford University featuring hands-on interactive science workshops.
The free events run from 10am to 4pm, continuing the ‘magic of science’ theme designed to inspire people to pursue an interest in science, engineering and technology.
The activities for children concluded yesterday with delving into forensic medicine to solve a staged crime scene investigation.
Jon Bates, a forensic scientist for Sci-High events, set up the scene at City Hall, recreating a burglary that the children had to solve using evidence such as fingerprints, ink analysis and DNA profiling.
He said: “The festival is a great way to engage the children, and the way we structure our session with a real-life story really draws them in. We hope they go away thinking that science can help in the process of solving crimes and making the world a better place.”
