A teaching union is hosting an annual lecture in memory of a murdered student.
Anthony Walker, from Merseyside, was killed in a racist attack at the age of 18 in 2005. Each year the National Union of Teachers hosts a lecture in his memory and this year it takes place at Bradford’s City Hall.
The keynote speaker at the event today is Hawa Bibi Laher, who was the first Asian Muslim headteacher to be appointed in the Kirklees district.
Other speakers include Ralph Berry, executive member for children’s services at Bradford Council, and Ian Murch, treasurer of the NUT in Bradford.
