It’s not just blood this vampire will be drinking on Halloween!
Bernard Shaw plans to celebrate the witching hour with a pint of Pumpkin Head from Oxenhope’s Bridgehouse Brewery.
Bernard is the landlord of the Airedale Heifer in Sandbeds, which is selling the brew throughout October.
He has a ‘stake’ in the success of Pumpkin Head because his pub is owned by Bridgehouse Brewery.
Bridgehouse sales and marketing director Simon Lamb said Pumpkin Head was created for Halloween last year.
He added: “It was successful, so we brewed the same one again this year, but earlier.
“It’s been very popular this year, too. We just sold the first batch, so we’ll have to start brewing it again.”
Simon said Pumpkin Head was selling at local pubs, including the Roebuck in Utley and Willow Tree in Riddlesden, and some casks have been sent to the North-east.
He added: “It’s a traditional Bridgehouse bitter – it has a copper colour and has a combination of sweet tastes. We brewed it so you can just taste a hint of pumpkin, but you don’t have to like pumpkin to like it.”
Bernard will be back in costume on November 2 when the Airedale Heifer holds its free-admission fancy dress Halloween party.
