There are two young additions to the cast of Keighley Amateurs’ latest show.
The society’s production of Whistle Down The Wind opens with children helping to save some kittens from drowning, and to make it look as authentic as possible two kittens will appear on stage
Keighley Amateurs chairman Louise Hindle-Barton is “thrilled” the society has been granted rights to perform Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical in their centenary year.
The show is only available to selected amateur societies following its West End run and national tour. Based on the novel by Mary Hayley Bell and film starring her daughter, Hayley Mills, the show is about a fugitive caught between the prejudice of adults and the innocence of the young. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s score combines haunting ballads and explosive rock with lyrics by Jim Steinman.
“This is a wonderful musical for our centenary year. We have a fine cast, technical team and supporting society to bring this show to our audiences who have supported us so well,” says Louise.
Director Jamesine Cundell Walker said: “Lloyd Webber takes a familiar story and adds his wonderful music. The show is amusing and moving in equal parts and we have a wonderful cast. You can look forward to a night 'when children rule the world’.”
The show runs at Keighley’s Victoria Hall from October 22-26 at 7.15pm, with a Saturday matinee at 2.15pm. For tickets ring 08456 252550.
