A historic Keighley steam locomotive has been granted iconic status by a leading engineers’ body.
The Institution of Mechanical Engineers will present the Webb Coal Tank NO 1054 with an Engineering Heritage Award. The loco now stands alongside the E-Type Jaguar, Tower Bridge and the Vulcan bomber as an iconic feat of British engineering.
Volunteers who restored the engine will receive the award on Saturday at the Ingrow Loco Museum. The Coal Tank regularly runs on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway.
