A disabled sports organisation in Bradford needs more volunteer drivers and escorts to help with its work across the district.
Bradford Disability Sport and Leisure (BDSL) runs three fully-adapted minibuses under the umbrella of ‘community transport’.
Sue Brook, transport manager, said: “We are short of drivers and escorts. This is mainly due to the success of volunteers who have now gained employment because of the training and development they have received when working for us.”
Volunteer drivers will be given training and volunteers receive out-of-pocket expenses.
A volunteer driver with BDSL said: “When I first came to volunteer as a driver I was not sure what to expect. After a few months I have found the work so rewarding and I know I make a difference as far as the elderly and disabled users are concerned.”
If you are interested in volunteering, contact Sue on (01274) 437093 or at bsr2@btconnect.com, or write to BDSL, Shipley Town Hall, Kirkgate, Shipley, BD18 3EJ.
