Firefighters will be back on strike for five hours next Saturday night in protest at an ongoing dispute over pension changes.
The Fire Brigades Union has announced plans for further strike action due to take place on October 19 between 6.30pm and 11.30pm over a dispute between the FBU and the Government over proposals to introduce a new pension scheme for firefighters to replace the two current pension schemes used by most members.
Resolution can only be achieved at a national level as the dispute is not between the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Authority and its staff.
Simon Pilling, Chief Fire Officer for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “We remain confident in our contingency plans after they were tested, and proved to be successful, during the last period of strike action in September.
“A reduced emergency response will again be inevitable during this next strike action.”
