Kiki Dee is at Skipton’s Mart Theatre next week as part of a UK tour marking her 50th anniversary in the business.

The Bradford-born singer and musical partner Carmelo Luggeri will be promoting new album A Place Where I Can Go, and fans can expect some Kiki hits thrown in too.

"There are songs people expect, so I always mix the hits and later material. I keep moving on, while honouring the past,” says Kiki.

Kiki started out singing with dance bands at venues like Manningham’s Mecca Locarno.

After being spotted by a talent scout in 1963, she was signed to Fontana Records and released her first single. In 1970, she became the first white British artist signed by Motown and she later signed to Elton John’s Rocket Records.

In 1976, the pair topped the charts with Don’t Go Breaking My Heart.

Over the past two decades, Kiki has performed with Italian songwriter, producer and guitarist Carmelo and they will be at the Mart on Friday, October 18.

Other acts appearing at the Mart this autumn include the London Philharmonic Skiffle Orchestra, American singer Beverley Craven, saxophonist Snake Davis and comics Shappi Khorsandi and Jeremy Hardy.

This season will end with family fun in panto Puss in Boots.
