A gigantic light and water-based art installation (pictured) lit up Bradford’s City Park last night – 24 hours late.
The award-winning venue had been due to host an ever-changing artwork entitled A Mirrored Pool of Thought.
However, due to “technical issues” – including construction of scaffolding not being complete – the show was postponed.
Last night, as City Hall’s bells tolled 7pm, tranquil music started echoing around City Park and the show began with 60 people watching on.
Using eight video projectors, Bradford-based international artist duo ADEPT – Shanaz Gulzar and Steve Manthorp – created the illusion of a giant pond filled with coloured koi carp and, at times, clocks.
Councillor Susan Hinch-cliffe, portfolio holder for employment, skills and culture, said: “We are delighted to be staging such high quality and creative, local art in City Park.”
A Mirrored Pool of Thought, inspired by American writer and poet Sylvia Plath’s phrase ‘How frail the human heart must be – a mirrored pool of thought’, runs from dusk to 11pm, today, tomorrow and Sunday.
