A foul-mouthed parrot found in a Guiseley street was yesterday reunited with its owner after an appeal for help was made by a veterinary surgery.
George, a grumpy African Grey, had been taken in to White Cross Vets after it was discovered close to the practice by a member of the public, despite being sworn at by the bird.
As reported in yesterday’s Telegraph & Argus, veterinary nurse Hayley Thompson had been trying to locate the owner through a code on the parrot’s leg ring.
And George was last night back with his owner Ben Homer, of Harehills, Leeds.
It turns out he escaped from an open window at his home at about 7pm last Saturday and turned up in Guiseley on Wednesday lunchtime.
Hayley said: “I carried him out on my arm and straight away he flew to his owner’s shoulder.
“It’s really good news. We feared that he would stuck here over the weekend.”
