The centre of Shipley will be breached tomorrow as a crew of swashbuckling pirates descend on Market Square for this year’s Pirate Day celebrations.
The Scurvy Shark ship will be docked from 11am to 4pm as masked characters entertain shoppers and children get the chance to meet Peter Pan and Tinker Bell as they battle with Captain Hook. The free event is organised by Bradford Council’s Shipley Town Centre management team and Q20 Theatre to entertain shoppers and boost creativity in schoolchildren.
Town centre manager Yvonne Crossley said: “Judging by last year’s event, this will be an exciting and fun day for youngsters, and equally entertaining for local shoppers and visitors to the town.”
Councillor Susan Hinchcliffe, executive member for culture, said: “We are keen to support our town centres by running events like this, which bring in families for a free day out.”
