The 295th anniversary of the birth of one of Otley's most famous sons was celebrated online yesterday.
Search engine Google marked the landmark date for Thomas Chippendale by customising its logo to feature pieces of furniture made by the celebrated cabinet maker and interior designer.
The only child of joiner John Chippendale and his wife Mary, he is believed to have been born in Farnley and then baptised in Otley on June 5, 1718.
Chippendale received an elementary education at Prince Henry's Grammar School and is believed to have learned his basic skills from his father.
