The fun and frolics of the circus were on display for children at one of the district’s primary schools.
Youngsters at Oakworth Primary School were treated to a surprise visit from a group called Circus Sensible, from Manchester.
They set up a big top-style tent in the grounds of the school, and staff dressed up as clowns, trapeze artists and other circus characters.
Assistant head teacher Claire Coulton, one of the day’s organisers, dressed as a fortune teller, while fellow organiser Andy Wiseman was ringmaster for the day.
Miss Coulton said: “It’s been really good, the children and staff have all enjoyed themselves.
“The pupils were very surprised – they weren’t expecting this at all. They took part in a circus skills workshop where they learned stilt walking and plate spinning and they’ve been watching acts such as juggling and fire eating.
“On July 10 we’ll finish off by having our own school circus. The children will put on their own stalls and performances.”
