Bradford Royal Infirmary has insisted no patients or babies were harmed when the hospital and the surrounding area suffered a powercut last Saturday.
A Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust spokesman said: “Bradford Royal Infirmary was affected when a power failure occurred on Saturday evening. As part of the trust’s resilience arrangements, the BRI has several emergency standby generators which supply electricity to essential installations in the event of a mains failure.
“Essential medical equipment also has battery back-up to support contingency arrangements. Throughout the power failure, all monitoring and treatments in the neonatal unit continued without any interruption and no baby was harmed.”
