Burley-in-Wharfedale Parish Council is calling for district planners to reject a 37-house development scheme on the site of a former mental health centre.
The village council has recommended Bradford Council refuses planning permission for the proposed two, three and four-bedroom homes at the Moor Lane Centre.
Bellway Homes Ltd and Bradford District NHS Care Trust are seeking permission to demolish the closed centre, part of the former Scalebor Park psychiatric hospital site. But there have been dozens of objections from residents living near to the former mental health rehabilitation unit.
The Parish Council’s Planning Committee recently studied the plans, but had concerns about car parking, road safety, potential loss of privacy, and impact on the local infrastructure, among other issues.
A design and access statement written on behalf of Bellway says the applicant considers the proposals represent a high quality scheme, both in design and planning terms, and would integrate with the existing residential development in the surrounding area.
