A decorator using a blowtorch to strip paint sparked a small fire at a bungalow in Parkwood Rise.
The Keighley fire engine and a pump from Bingley were called out to the incident.
Keighley Fire Station watch commander Steve Moorhouse, said the fire at 10.30am on Saturday started in the bungalow’s roof space.
He said some birds’ nests caught light, and some roof timbers were also scorched.
“All we had to do was take away a few roof tiles, expose the timbers and put some water on them,” he said.
“There was no structural damage.”
The fire crews remained at the scene for about an hour.
