An investigation is underway into the death of a pensioner struck by a police van as he walked in the park.
The van had been parked by officers responding to reports of a disturbance in Pudsey Park, Church Lane, Pudsey yesterday when the incident happened at 2.15pm.
The pensioner is believed to be a grandfather in his 80s from Pudsey.
Floral tributes have been laid at the scene of the incident.
A police spokesman said the van had rolled forward and collided with the elderly man who had been walking in the park. Paramedics were called to the scene but he died of his injuries.
The matter was immediately referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
The identity of the man has not yet been released.
