Pupils at Ghyll Royd School, Burley-in-Wharfedale, welcomed local artist Ruth Wightman as their new artist in residence.
Ruth is classically trained with a degree in fine art and remains a practicing and exhibiting artist.
Her addition to the Ghyll Royd team has enhanced the art provision. The children now have the opportunity to explore a diverse range of techniques including ceramics and 3D model making.
Ruth’s appointment is also critical in the development of the Ghyll Royd School Art Festival, which is now in its third year. Ruth will be exhibiting at the event along with a number of other local artists.
Open from June 28 to 30, the festival will exhibit more than 500 unique pieces that will also be available to buy.
Saturday, June 29, also sees the Summer Fair at Ghyll Royd School so visitors to the art festival may also try their luck at one of the stalls on offer or stop for refreshments.
