Police are urging cyclists to take care when using GPS mapping mobile apps following more reports of bikes stolen in Ilkley.
Ilkley Neighbourhood Policing Team has repeated advice to review the security of sheds or garages where bicycles are stored, and to make use of privacy settings on mobile apps used by cyclists.
Their advice follows concerns from local cyclists that thieves are locating high-value bikes by accessing information from mobile apps such as Strava and Map my Ride.
The software allows cyclists to let others know about cycling routes and times taken for completing them.
In a statement, Ilkley Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “Some crime prevention measures to take can be as simple as covering any windows, securing doors with substantial locks and separately securing your bicycles.”
