A £10,000 boost by Bradford Council will help this year’s Ilkley Summer Festival stage events.
It has agreed to give funding from its Bradford Visitor Fund to the festival, which will run throughout August.
This year’s festival features Clare Teal and her Big Band, the return of the popular Son et Lumiere display, continental street market, Dolce Vita cabaret on The Grove, with the Ilkley Parish Council-supported Last Night of the Proms concert at the end.
Bradford Council leader, Councillor David Green, said: “Ilkley Festival kicks off on Yorkshire Day, August 1, and runs throughout August. We recognise the contribution Ilkley Festival makes to the district’s ambitions to boost business and tourism.”
Ilkley Summer Festival is organised by a group of volunteers including Bradford councillor Anne Hawkesworth. She said: “We work very hard to cater for as many tastes as we can.” The festival recently secured funding from Yorkshire Building Society as the overall commercial sponsor and also has support from Dale Eddison, Bradford Council, The Wheatley Arms and more than 100 businesses.
