A suspected drug dealer wrote off a police van when he backed into it to avoid a road block, Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday.
Mansoor Hussain, 26, of Carrington Street, Bradford Moor, sped off on the pavement and jumped two red lights when the police swooped in North Avenue, Manningham, Bradford, on January 16.
He pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and was jailed for 14 months.
Ben Campbell, prosecuting, said officers blocked Hussain’s car in when they suspected he was selling drugs on the streets. His driving endangered a boy on the pavement and he managed to escape arrest that day. He was traced through the car and gave no comment answers to the police.
Hussain was in breach of a suspended jail sentence imposed in 2011 for possession of heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply, the court was told.
