A 29-year-old man has been cleared of intentionally causing a club-goer grievous bodily harm by a jury at Bradford Crown Court. Daniel Halton was today found guilty of the lesser offence of causing grievous bodily harm and will be sentenced on June 28.

Halton, of Newill Close, West Bowling, Bradford, was accused of knocking down Jaen Stavar in Conucos in Sackville Street, Bradford, on August 29, 2011, and fracturing his skull by stamping on his head.

He told the jury he punched Mr Stavar once to the head because he would not stop pestering his girlfriend. Halton said Mr Stavar lunged aggressively at him and he thought he was going to hit him.

He denied stamping on him.
