Two high achieving students at a Bradford school have been selected to visit a leading university to get an insight into higher education.
Louise Higginson, head of year nine at Hanson School in Sutton Avenue, nominated three of her pupils for the scheme, two of whom – Stacey Ridelalgh and Elleina Morgan, both 14 – were chosen to take part in the programme.
The opportunity to visit one of the 24 Russell Group universities was made available as part of a Department for Education initiative called the Dux Awards Schemes. The pair will visit Manchester University on June 12.
Stacey said: “I didn’t even know I had been nominated so I was really surprised. I am really happy about it.”
Elleina added: “I have always thought about going to University as an option when I am older and would like to study English to become a writer.”
