A grandad is offering to do all the “leg-work” for local groups and appeals wanting to raise funds for charity.
Muppet is getting it off on the right foot by naming the Telegraph & Argus’s Crocus Appeal as just one of the good causes he will be helping.
The 53-year-old community worker, from Thorpe Edge, who changed his name to Muppet by deed poll, says he will walk the 40-plus miles along Bradford’s Millennium Way tomorrow and then conquer Yorkshire’s Three Peaks later in June – if the groups or appeals organise their own sponsors.
"Every year I do a big walk to raise funds for the Children’s Liver Foundation who have helped my grandson Amos, so I need to get fit for that,” he said.
“Seeing as I was going to do these training walks anyway I thought I might as well offer doing the leg-work to any groups and charities needing funds,” he said.
“Every knows someone touched by cancer so if I can help the appeal by walking then I’m happy about that. I wanted to keep the causes local and it’s fantastic that such great work to help fight this killer disease is happening right here in our city.” Muppet’s Millennium Way Walk will be on Saturday, June 1, taking in some of the district’s best countryside.
