School pupils got a better understanding of the business world during a tour of Bradford Chamber of Commerce.
Ten pupils at Buttershaw Business and Enterprise College spent half a day at the Chamber’s base, Devere House in Little Germany.
They spoke to managers and staff about the work the Chamber does on behalf of firms across the district. The Year Eight pupils found out what start-ups needed to think about when first going into business and how firms got an online presence thanks to IT support and website development.
The visit was organised as part of Work Inspiration Week, an initiative by E3 Bradford aiming to bring business and education closer together.
E3 Bradford is led by the Chamber’s vice-president, Paul Mackie, of property consultants Rex Procter and Partners.
Mr Mackie said: “We want to help schools and their pupils to have a good insight into what’s required when both going into business and, when taking on staff, the skills and attitude needed.
“The visits are going down well with schools and businesses alike.”
