Children across Bradford district will be encouraged to talk more in school during a month-long series of activities and events.
The district’s Language for Learning Steering Group has announced The Talking Children campaign, set up to promote the importance of talk for learning with primary school-aged pupils and their families.
A Talking Children Charter will be passed between participating primary schools in June and July, with each creating a ‘commitment statement’ saying what they will do to develop high-quality talk in their classrooms.
Youngsters will present their ideas to the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Coun-cillor Khadim Hussain, at the Bingley Mercure Hotel on July 10.
Talking Children leaflets, in the form of a comic book, will be handed out to all parents and carers explaining how they can support the project at home.
