A Keighley pub landlord’s plan to bring strippers back to the town has had to be put on hold.
People will be keeping their clothes on for the foreseeable future at the Great Northern, which is run by Mickey Thompson, after he has now acknowledged that a licensing issue means the saucy adult entertainment is not on the cards.
“I was under the impression that this was fine,” he said. “It is something that people had asked for, and this is a licensed premises where it would have been properly controlled.”
However, he said he now understood that male and female strippers can only be lawfully accommodated in the pub if he successfully applies for a variation to its licence allowing it to stage performances.
He added that he had not yet applied for this variation, and was still considering whether to do so.
“I’m not too put out because we’ve got lots of other things going on at the pub,” he said. “But it’s just another way of keeping a pub alive in this day and age.”
