Establishing a new friends group may be the best way to secure funding to build a path leading to Keighley Tarn.
Keighley ward councillor Steve Pullen was commenting on proposals to make a 550-yard stretch of Black Hill Lane safe for pedestrians.
The issue has previously been raised by local resident Harry Plunkett, who said some people were unable to enjoy the tarn because speeding vehicles were making it too dangerous to reach the location on foot.
His views have been backed by Keighley Town Council’s watch and transport committee, which has appealed for support from local businesses.
Councillor Pullen said Bradford Council was short of money and suggested an organised Keighley Tarn Friends group, with its own constitution, might have more chance of successfully applying for cash.
