A giant fox is hunting cats in Saltaire, according to a shocked resident.
Wild snarls awoke the man, who lives opposite the Victoria Road car park, and from his upstairs window he saw a huge fox snapping at the hind legs of a cat.
“It was about 2am and I could see this really big fox going after a black and white cat. It was a really hefty, broad-shouldered brute,” said the witness, who asked not to be named.
“Because of the size, at first I thought it was a big dog until I saw its shape and bushy tail clearly in the lamplight. The cat had made it into a tree and was trying to claw its way to safety while the fox leapt up after it, snarling and biting at the poor creature.
“Thankfully the cat dragged itself up to safety in the branches. The fox then slunk off and sauntered down Victoria Road.”
