A Keighley councillor has praised the “can-do” attitude of council officers in trying to unblock a drain in Bracken Bank.
Keith Dredge said their investigation showed that a tin can was the cause of long-running flooding problems on Bracken Bank Avenue.
He said council workers would now try to remove the tin so that water can run freely rather than backing up through a manhole.
Coun Dredge, who represents Keighley West on Bradford Council, said that in heavy rain, water seeped from a manhole outside the Sue Belcher Community Centre.
He said: “It’s something very small causing a very big problem. Water is going down the road and when it’s cold, it’s a skating rink.”
Coun Dredge claimed it had taken several years of complaining by local residents and himself to get things moving.
