Events are taking place in the district on Sunday marking the 60th anniversary of the Queen’s Coronation.

Harden Parish Council is unveiling a diamond jubilee plaque and commemorative oak tree, near the Harden Road bus shelter.

The unveiling will be carried out at 12.30pm by Baroness Margaret Eaton (left) and will be preceded, at 11.15am, by a special service at St Saviour’s Church.

After the event, refreshments will then be served in the church family room.

At Cowling, near Keighley, the refurbished coronation shelter in Gill Lane will be officially reopened.

The shelter was built by the late Gerald Hall and Squire Jackson, who both worked for local builders Sam Gott and Sons.

Sunday’s ceremony – which will take place at noon – will be performed by Betty Bestall, daughter of Gerald, watched by Maurice Jackson, son of Squire.

The refurbishment work has been carried out by local contractor Chris Cowgill.
