Bradford Cathedral is hosting a preview event for live television extravaganza Bollywood Carmen.
The TV event will be a modern interpretation of Bizet’s classic opera, starring Meera Syal 887(pictured) and will be broadcast live from Bradford city centre on BBC Three on June 9.
A preview evening, called Bizet and Bollywood, is being held at the cathedral this Saturday and will incude readings, panel discussions and glimpses of the BBC Three spectacular.
Percussionist and bhangra pioneer Kuljit Bhamra, who arranged and performed the music for Bollywood Carmen, will play excerpts from the production.
Opera singer Louise Innes will sing a number of title role arias from Opera North’s production of Carmen.
There will also be a panel discussion exploring different interpretations of CarmenWilson.
