Nine cubs pushed three barrels of water for three miles to raise money for WaterAid.
Their journey, from Shipley to Bingley, equals the average distance that children in developing countries have to carry water for their basic needs.
The boys, aged between eight and ten, who attend 3rd Shipley St Peter’s Cubs, teamed up with Yorkshire Water to support WaterAid as their leader, Ray Garrard, works for the company.
He said: “The boys wanted to do something to raise money and we thought it would have more meaning if they did something that children their age all over the world have to do on a daily basis.” The trio raised more than £500. Anne Reed, of Yorkshire Water, said: “The boys did an amazing job and I’m sure they feel much closer to the children they’re raising money for by experiencing just a little bit of what they have to go through.”
