A councillor is calling for support to help Otley establish the first Business Improvement District in Leeds.
Councillor Sandy Lay (Lib Dem, Otley & Yeadon) made the plea at the latest full meeting of Leeds City Council, when he outlined the benefits the scheme could bring the town. The Otley BID proposal is being pushed forward by Otley Town Team and would, if backed by enough local businesses, raise £350,000 over five years to be invested in the town centre.
Coun Lay said: “For a small additional fee, businesses will have control over a pot of money that can be spent on projects of their choosing in the area.”
