Birstall-based paint firm PPG Architectural Coatings has given a local landmark a much-needed boost.
The company has donated almost £20,000 to Oakwell Hall, presenting a cheque to heritage manager Eric Brown and Kirklees Councillor Jean Calvert.
PPG, which manufactures paint brands Johnstone’s and Leyland, has a new grant scheme giving out donations to worthy organisations near its bases. The 16th-century manor house is within walking distance of the PPG site and was often visited by its staff.
The firm’s general manager for UK and Ireland, Steve Pocock, said: “It’s fantastic that PPG has been able to support such an important historic local landmark and ensure it continues to be enjoyed for generations to come.”
Red House Museum in nearby Gomersal will also get a donation.
