A bid to create a dedicated cycle route between Burley-in-Wharfedale and Ilkley has come under the scrutiny of Ilkley councillors.
Calls for a traffic-free route between the two communities – possibly alongside the Wharfedale railway line – have been discussed by Burley parish councillors.
They have suggested instructing sustainable transport charity Sustrans to carry out a feasibility study on the possibility of a creating a cycle route, at a cost of about £5,000.
Ilkley parish councillor Bryan Websdale has met with Burley Parish Council over the scheme.
He told Ilkley Parish Council options considered for the route have included alongside the A65, along the moor road and a route following the Wharfedale line.
The Ilkley councillors agreed to discuss the formation of a working party at their June meeting to look into the issue.
