A new ‘Canal Road Greenway’ linking Shipley and Bradford has been approved by planners.

The asphalt path, for cyclists and walkers, will be 3.5m wide along its route from Shipley railway station to Frizinghall.

Bradford Council’s Regulatory and Appeals Committee heard metal A-frames would be installed to keep nuisance motorcyclists and quad bikers off the path.

The meeting heard that the applicant, Sustrans, met West Yorkshire Police last week to allay fears that the path could attract petty criminals.
