Keighley’s new mayor will raise cash for a cause particularly close to her heart during her term of office.
Councillor Sally Walker’s daughter, Claire McKeown, was killed by a drink-driver in 2011. Councillor Walker said Claire had been an organ donor, which meant her tragic death saved the lives of several other seriously ill people.
Because of this she has chosen to support NHS Blood and Transplant for her town mayor’s appeal, as well as some small local charities.
Coun Walker, 65, of Goose Cote Lane, Oakworth, has been a councillor since 2007.
