One of the organisers of Haworth 1940s Weekend has rubbished claims the event was marred by people attending in ‘Nazi uniforms’.
Haworth resident Peter Hill said the reports amounted to “pure hysterical claptrap”.
At least six men wearing a variety of German military uniforms were present in Haworth on Sunday.
Mr Hill said he and his colleagues had advised people not to wear items such as swastika armbands which might cause offence.
“Yes we did have a few people dressed in German uniforms and we would have welcomed that,” he added.
